May 21, 2009 - Spotlight On... Three: A Tasting Bar
by Rochelle Emery-Luckett, Operations Manager
There
was a time not so long ago that I considered Three: A Tasting Bar a
restaurant only suitable for special occasions. You know - on birthdays
or anniversaries - where I always ordered "The Chef's Mood" (consisting
of seven delicious courses) - I also choose the Wine Pairing for an
added treat. I am consistently impressed with the food and tapas-style
service, which makes dinner an entire evening event.
Then
one day I had a revelation: Why not go to Three for lunch? I discovered
that Three's lunch menu is affordable. Since going to Three regularly
for lunch, I always - and I mean, always - order the soup. I don't
even bother asking the server (usually Haley) what the daily soup is. I
just order it and wait to be surprised by whatever delicious soup they
send my way.
Three
is known for its intimate, romantic atmosphere. The recent
renovations, which include new chocolate brown finishes and soothing
artwork, add a definite coziness.
This
year I was fortunate enough to attend Three's 100 km dinner, a special
event celebration. Past special event dinners have included the Wild
Game Dinner, Nude Food and the Tour of Italy. These events set Three:
A Tasting Bar apart and demonstrates their interest in creating, local,
unique and delicious meals.
Whether
it be for a special occasion or a tasty lunch, do yourself a favour and
visit Three: A tasting Bar, located one block east of Ouellette Avenue
at 63 Pitt Street East.
Check out the next upcoming dinner, Raw Deal, where guest chef Renee Trepanier cooks up a storm.
